Hi, I’m Cayne! Do you want to know more about QA in games? Great—me too! I’ve been trying to figure it all out for 17 years now, and I still feel like I’m only scratching the surface.
That’s part of the joy of QA—part of the joy of game development as a whole. At least, from my perspective. The practically endless ways to approach, design, develop, and produce games mean there are just as many ways to perform QA. You can always challenge yourself, always refine, always improve.
For me, the past two years have been exactly that—a challenge. After developing various QA skills at PlayStation, I took the leap into an uncharted adventure at Skyhook Games. Here, I’ve been rethinking my approach, adapting tried-and-tested techniques, experimenting with new ways of working, and questioning what I thought I knew.
It’s been a mind-bogglingly curvaceous learning curve, and I want to share it.
